Takeout the Bonsai plant along with the soil from the pot.

Prune 1/3 of root area along with the soil using a handsaw. This should be done annually.

Prune branches judiciously according to the style required.

Both this pruning of roots and branches can be done simultaneously.

Pruning of new growth may be done periodically for developing required canopy.
