 Training ( wiring ) , Pruning & Pinching are the most important techniques used to achieve desired style for bonsai plant.

Training ( Wiring )

Like the dentist clip the teeth to desired shape using wires, the trunk and branches can be shaped. it is an important bonsai technique to train and style Bonsai trees. By wrapping wire around the branches of a tree you are able to reposition  and bend  the tree branches. Copper or aluminum wires can be used for this.




Pruning

Pruning is an essential gardening skill and a horticultural and silvicultural practice that involves selective removal of certain parts of a plant, such as branches, buds, or roots. 
Unnecessary branches can be removed. Prune 1/3 of roots every year, using a handsaw.




Pinching

Pinching of buds or leaves can be done periodically by hand to get desired style for canopy.
